Our Curriculum
Our curriculum is designed to support our students to meet and exceed the National Curriculum expectations in English and Maths, and all subjects contribute to this learning. As a Christian school, we take time to support students to gain a deep understanding of our Christian Values and to take every opportunity to explore how they might use them to live a rich and fulfilling life.

Attendance
To improve our rating pupils need to achieve 96% attendance as a group. Please help your child to make the most progress and support the school by not keeping children off school for any other reasons than ill health.

Pupil Voice
Our cook nominated Charlie’s Roald Dahl, Charlie and the Chocolate factory for the prize. He and a friend will be working with our Cook to produce his recipe for his class. Merits will also be awarded to a number of pupils who came up with fantastic recipes and names.

Improving Homework
As a proactive parent, you will be aware this week that supply lessons, and cover do not support our homework timetable and or process.

First ESA Meeting
The first ESA meeting will be held on 17th October at 6pm. It is not too late to join us, if you would like to support us in fund raising for the school please contact esa@edwinstree.herts.sch.uk or telephone the school office.

Parent Governors
Thank you to those parents who have nominated themselves as a Parent Governor. We will be speaking to the nominees next week and asking for pen portraits to support an election process.

Additional Inset Days
The Local Authority granted the school two additional days. The school will be close for pupils on 20th & 21st October. Inset days are an important tool for head teachers to help their staff keep their skills and knowledge up-to-date.

Open Evening
Thank you to around 150 pupils who came back to school on Thursday evening to act either as a guide or a subject specialist. Their enthusiasm was infectious and they did a great job in letting prospective parents and pupils know what it was like to be at Edwinstree.

Parent Drop-in sessions

Volunteers

Homework Forum

Our Year 8 School Council met last week to decide on the first house competitions to take place this term.

District Cross Country
Nine schools took part in the Disctrict Cross Country, BSHS, Hockerill, Saffron Walden, Leventhorpe, Joyce Franklin Academy, St Marys, Herts and Essex, Newport, Birchwood.

Scholastic Book Fair
We would like to thank everyone who supported our recent Book Fair. The total sales resulted in an amazing £316.50 commission, which will be spent on new books for the school library.
