Welcome to Edwinstree
Welcome to Edwinstree Middle School, we are very proud to be a Voluntary Controlled Church of England school within the Buntingford three tier systems of schools. We work hard to make sure that our faith supports each individual at Edwinstree to flourish and challenges us all to live life to the full.
All students at our school consider and reflect on the following Christian values: Reverence, Wisdom, Thankfulness, Humility, Endurance, Service, Compassion, Trust, Peace, Forgiveness, Friendship, Justice, Hope, Creation and Koinonia. These values are embedded in our school policies and practices. During the four years students are with us, they will have the opportunity to explore each value in depth and consider what it could mean for them now and in the future.
As a middle school, we feel very lucky that we are able to combine the care and nurture of primary specialists and their deep understanding of the building blocks of Mathematics and English, with a team of subject specialists from secondary school backgrounds. This provides us with a unique opportunity to inspire all students with our Science, Design and Technology, Music and Art specialist facilities. This allow students to flourish and develop their subject passions, whilst maintaining an absolute focus on the core curriculum subjects and the importance of developing experts in reading, writing and mathematics problem solving and reasoning.
We are determined that by the time Edwinstree students leave us, they will be confident and proficient in the core curriculum, independent learners, curious and passionate about the world around them and compassionate with each other and to themselves.
As a parent or prospective parent, we will do everything we can to encourage you to continue the excellent communication from your child’s first school and work closely with us. We will offer you a minimum of two full opportunities to attend Parents’ Evenings in core subjects and specialist subjects, as well as support evenings to guide transition stages and the SAT program of support. Our Collective Worships are open to parents on a Friday afternoon, to worship and to sing with us. Our Church services at the end of term are becoming popular with our parent body.
We will also offer opportunities to consult you with regard to key areas of our joint work, such as Parent’s Evenings, homework, reports, and how we can make these as helpful as possible. As a school filled with compassion, no problem is ever too small for us, so please do not hesitate to ring with any concerns.
If you like the sound of our school, there is no better way of discovering what we are like and what we have to offer, than by taking a tour with our students. Please contact the school office via email at admin@edwinstree.herts.sch.uk if you wish to arrange a visit, we will respond within 24 hours.
Yours sincerely
